Mandy Asghar

Mandy Asghar

Mandy is responsible for enhancing pedagogic practices across the university through academic staff development, facilitating curriculum innovation projects, supporting the development of pedagogic research and ensuring that good practice is shared. Mandy also leads and works with the Teaching Fellow network. Mandy’s main focus is to encourage others to be reflective about their pedagogic practice to push the boundaries of what happens in the physical and virtual classrooms in ways that make students feel excited about their learning.


Lena Henderson

Lena’s responsibilities include the support of: learning enhancement initiatives, working directly with staff and students; learning and teaching events and publicity; a range of projects aiming to enhance learning experience and teaching practices across York St John University. One of Lena’s professional interests is learning technology and its application in the blended learning. She is a member of Higher York e-Learning Network. Lena previously had a career as a Secondary School Teacher in Ukraine.


Dasha Zhurauskaya

Dasha works closely with students to promote student research, other student opportunities and engage actively with students in on-going projects involving students as researchers. As part of Dasha’s responsibilities she provides support to the Head of Learning and Teaching Development in a range of evaluation activities and supports the Learning and Teaching Development Co-ordinator in the organisation and administration of L&T events.


Mark Dransfield

Mark has been working at YSJ since September 2005. Since graduating in 1998, he was employed as a web designer and developer, before taking a career change and training to teach upper primary children. Now Mark spends most of his time involved in projects to do with people and technology and does a lot of work with YSJ academic staff.  One of his main responsibilities, aside from leading our Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) team, is to look after our VLE, Moodle.


Daniel-Mackley

Daniel has 6 years’ experience working with technology to enhance learning. As part of his role at York St John he provides advice, support and staff development on the core TEL systems and technologies used by staff at YSJ. These include Moodle, Mahara, TurnitinUK & Grademark, BigBlueButton, Select Survey, e-Submission, marking and feedback and the Crestron lecture capture system. Daniel also delivers accredited training in the form of the Supporting Learning Technologies (SLT) SEDA award.


Phil Vincent

Phil’s focus is to strategically develop the use of the institutional e-Portfolio system (Mahara) by engaging and communicating with key stakeholders, offering advice, consultancy and support. Working to the Learning & Teaching Development annual objectives and the TEL Quality Framework, he pro-actively supports and develops staff in their use of e-Portfolio technology to enhance the student learning experience.
