Why study the MBA: Design Management
This award aims to develop learners’ potential
for progression to a management role with a master’s level
understanding of the importance of managing creativity and design
in the area of business management. The award is designed to
develop a deep understanding of managing design and creativity that
is essential to the development of business in the 21st
century.
Given the importance of innovation and creativity
in business it is essential that future managers understand the
challenges and demands in facilitating the development of a
creative culture in business. Managing this complex ecology
presents important challenges to those people who are tasked to
manage the creative process and lead such groups. The design
element of the course responds directly to the Cox Report calling
for business people, ‘who understand creativity, who know when and
how to use the specialist, and who can manage innovation’
(2005:28).
