I began life as a secondary English teacher but
soon moved into teaching English to non native speakers where I
began to become interested in the core aspects of
language/linguistics. Work in TEFL took me to Sweden and Italy with
an increasing focus on business English, materials production and
communications consultancy work. A brief spell in a British state
school before arriving at St John’s refocused my language interests
onto education. More recently, I was seconded for eighteen months
to work as a KS3 consultant on the pilot phase of the secondary
National Literacy Strategy.
