Consultancy & Leadership for Mission & Ministry
Programme of study
Consultancy & Leadership for Mission & Ministry is a
strand of the Theology & Religious Studies Postgraduate
Programme and, in terms of entry requirements and
assessment it is the same as Theology & Religious Studies
- for more general information please click
here. It is taught at the York Institute for Community
Theology, York campus, in residential 'block' courses.
Modules include:
- Consultancy and Praxis for Mission and Ministry
- Organisational Studies for Mission and Ministry
- Developing and Evaluating Praxis for Mission and Ministry
- Mission Theology and Practice
Why study this strand?
There is a growing interest in processes that help people work
together more effectively to enable the Church in its mission and
ministry. People who work in church and community settings need
consultants who understand mission and ministry, who identify with
the particular features of their work and who can help them think
theologically about it. This programme makes an important
contribution to practical theology, enabling those who work in
Church and community settings to develop their practice and to
achieve their personal, professional and academic goals.
The programme is particularly suitable for those involved in the
following roles:
- local church ministry
- mission consultants
- regional ministerial roles
- training and development roles
- stewardship advisers
- community work
- youth work
- those working in para-church agencies
- senior church leaders
In addition we envisage the course being of
help to those:
- involved in supporting new forms of church
- running work consultancy or appraisal schemes
- undertaking evaluations of church and community work
- running or supporting community, youth or regeneration
projects.
