Benefits & facilities

Graduate CentreThe University prides itself on providing a high quality supportive environment characterised by individual supervision arrangements.

Our interdisciplinary Graduate Centre is based in the new De Grey Court building and provides research students with access to:

  • flexible work space and lockable storage
  • the University’s computing network and internet
  • printing facilities for research study purposes
  • telephone facilities for research study purposes
  • meeting room facilities
  • opportunities for interaction with fellow researchers within the social hub

In addition, the following facilities are available to our research students:

  • access to research networks
  • possibilities for supervised involvement in teaching
  • relevant training in both research and teaching methodologies

Graduate Centre 2The Fountains Learning Centre provides library services for York St John research students. It is recognised that no one library can satisfy researchers’ needs, so to support research students the following are provided:

  • access to the range of databases and online resources provided by YSJU
  • interlibrary loans
  • membership of SCONUL Access, at researcher level, which provides access to almost all UK HEI libraries, including borrowing rights at the University of Leeds libraries
  • walk in access to many University of Leeds electronic resources at University of Leeds libraries

Each research student has an expenses account allocated to fund other items associated with the research, including other minor equipment, computer needs, key books and periodicals.
