Using Technology to Provide Student Feedback
Delivered by:
Russell Stannard, Principal Teaching Fellow
University of Warwick
Screen capture technology is becoming one of
the most popular educational tools on the market. The ability to be
able to record the screen of your computer as if you had a video
camera pointing at hit opens up a huge number of possibilities.
In 2006, Russell Stannard began a series of
experiments using screen capture software for providing
feedback to students. The idea has generated enormous publicity
with articles in the national newspapers as well as a report
submitted to the UK government in 2009. There is currently large
research work taking place at institutions in Norway, Canada, Japan
and here in the UK at the Open University.

This workshop and presentation will present Russell's work as well
as provide real hands on experience and practice in working with
the idea. This is a very simple technology that opens a huge number
of possibilities and you will leave the session with lots of ideas
around providing feedback to students as well as other ideas of
making use of screen capture software in your teaching and
learning.
Russell Stannard is a principal teaching fellow at the
University of Warwick. He won the Times Higher "Outstanding
Initiative" and the British Council "Innovation" award for this
website http://www.teachertrainingvideos.com/.
The site provides step by step help videos to help teachers
incorporate technology into their teaching and in 2011 received
