Talking About Teaching 2013
Friday 25 January 2013
Talking about Teaching 2013 is our annual
event that provides opportunities to engage in conversations about
learning, teaching and assessment. This year we will have two
parallel themes:
- Assessment and Feedback
- International perspectives and
dimensions of teaching and learning
In order to continue our theme of this event
providing space for conversations about learning, teaching and
assessment, presenters are encouraged to think about how they
facilitate this within their sessions. The day will consist of
keynotes, symposia and parallel sessions. The call for
contributions will be sent out at the end of September 2012.
Keynotes
Confirmed keynotes for the event include
David Nicol, Emeritus Professor of Higher Education at the
University of Strathclyde. David was Director of REAP, the
Re-Engineering Assessment
Practices project, a £1m project exploring how new technologies
might support improved assessment practices across three Scottish
Universities. His Keynote will focus on the development of feedback
practice.
Our second keynote will be delivered by
David Killick and Laura Dean. David is Head of
Academic Staff Development at Leeds Met, and a National Teaching
Fellow, known particularly for his pioneering work on curriculum
development around cross-cultural capability and global
perspectives. His current research interests are focussed on links
between internationalisation and equality and diversity in higher
education. Laura is an employability consultant who currently works
to support organisations developing their employability strategies
and corresponding implementation plans; running staff development
and supporting curriculum enhancement. Their keynote will
focus on Embedding internationalisation, employability and
