Going beyond Google
This workshop is suitable for:
Academics and any support staff who deliver to students.
Delivered by
Clare McCluskey & Jane Munks
Google is the default search tool for
many people when they are looking for information and evidence on
the Internet. However, restricting searches to Google products in
any environment means limiting what you will find and this is
especially true in the academic environment. This session will show
alternatives to Google and make staff aware of how much is
available to them and their students via the library at York St
John.
Learning Outcomes
- To become aware of the limitations of
Google, both in regard to its search interface and scope
- To learn about the alternatives which
you can promote to your students
- To understand the best ways of using these resources
