York Cares
York Cares is a partnership of the city's leading employers
committed to making York a better place
through volunteering.
York Cares partners with over 200 local charities to build
an engaging and co-ordinated volunteering framework that addresses
York's community needs, particularly in areas of disadvantage.
York Cares offers an annual calendar of regular volunteering
programmes such as listening to primary school children read, one
off projects to transform community buildings and urban green
spaces or visiting the elderly and collecting for homeless people
at Christmas as well as a number of special initiatives,
Staff who wish to contribute some of their time to deliver
beneficial activities in school, charities and to community groups
can participate in York Cares current programmes such as
'Kids' College' for disadvantaged children, and 'Starting
Blocks' for young people leaving care.
Team Challenges
Team challenges are one-off projects to transform community
buildings and urban green spaces. There is something for everyone,
