Gowns and Photographs

How do I order my gown?

You can hire or purchase your gown online with Ede & Ravenscroft via www.gownhire.co.uk or by calling 01223 861854 from 1 August 2012. Please remember the exact details of the gown you should order are on the second page of your invitation letter and on e:Vision. Details on how and where to collect your gown will be sent to you with your tickets.

What do the gowns look like?

We have images of the York St John University gowns here.

How do I know the awarding institution of my degree?

As York St John University now has degree awarding powers, any student that started after September 2007 will be awarded a York St John University degree. However, if you studied Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy and started before 2008 your award will be validated by the University of Leeds. The academic robes for a York St John University award are different from those for a University of Leeds validated award

If you look at your invitation letter you will see we have included an awarding institution section and have also included this information on e:Vision. Use this information when you are ordering your robes.

How do I get photographs of the ceremony?

Ede & Ravenscroft are organising the photography as well as the hire or purchase of academic dress. Please make your orders for portraits or graduation packs using the order form provided with your invitation or go to www.gownhire.co.uk. The photographic service will be available before and after the ceremony. Photographers will also be present at the ceremony to photograph every graduand receiving his or her award. You should note that personal photography is actively discouraged in the Minster.
