Booking Your Place
All official invitations to the graduation ceremonies will be
sent via your student and personal e-mail from 18 July. From
that date you will be able to confirm your
attendance and book your guest tickets. You do not have to pay
for these tickets until October 2013.
It is vital that you keep your personal contact information
completely up to date. If you change your address, email or
mobile phone number please update this information on e:Vision as
soon as possible.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much do graduation tickets cost?
All guest tickets to attend the ceremony at York Minster
will cost £10. You may apply for up to four guest tickets, each of
which will cost £10. However, bear in mind we can only
guarantee the first two tickets of your allocation.
The final ticket allocation will be released in mid-October. We
will e-mail you then and tell you how many tickets you have been
allocated and you can then pay for them. You will not be able to
pay for them before the final ticket allocation has been
completed. All guest tickets are charged at £10; only student
graduand tickets are free of charge.

When can I order my gown/photography?
Full details of how you can order your gown or any of the
graduation services offered by Ede & Ravenscroft will be sent
with your graduation invitation in July.
When and how do I get my final exam results?
Normally all undergraduate award results will be made available
on e:Vision from Monday 8 July 2013. All examination results will
also be posted first class to home addresses during the week
beginning 8 July 2013.
Results approved by the September Board of Examiners will be
available from Monday 11 September.
What if I am a postgraduate student and submit my dissertation
after the summer?
Please contact us, as we normally only guarantee a place for
students whose results can be ratified by the Board of Examiners at
its meeting on 6 September 2013. There is a late Exam Board for
postgraduate students on 11 October, however you will need to have
confirmed your attendance with us before that date. If you
are in any doubt contact the Ceremonies office.
Please be aware we cannot be held liable for costs such as
flights, accommodation, gowns etc if you book these in
advance and are unsuccessful in gaining your degree. If you are in

I am a student at a Partner Institution. How will I receive my
Students from partner institutions will be contacted in early
August via e-mail and letter. It is important that you contact
your home institution to let them know your up-to-date contact
information. You will not be using e:Vison to respond to your
graduation invitation, but instead will be e-mailing YSJ
Registry directly after you receive your invitation to let us know

What if I have any disability requirements?
If you or your guests have any special needs which will make
access to the graduation ceremonies difficult you can specify
this when you are requesting your tickets in July. If you have

If I have any debts to the University, will I still be able to
attend the ceremony?
No, you will not be able to attend the graduation ceremonies.
All debts to the University, including the Library, must be paid
before students are allowed to attend a ceremony.
