Music BA (Hons)

If you are invited to interview for the BA
(Hons) Music Production you will be given an opportunity to
demonstrate your ability and passion in the subject, and to get
more detailed information about the programme. The interview day
will not only help us to make a decision but should help you to
make a decision too.
You will be given a campus tour and general
information during the morning session. The afternoon session will
include
• a welcome by the
admissions tutor;
• a tour of the music
block and the music production facilities;
• an overview of the BA
(Hons) Music Production, showing previous students’ work, and the
learning opportunities provided by the programme;
• a chance to ask any
questions about the programme and studying music production at York
St John University.
The interview itself lasts approximately
twenty minutes. You should bring examples of your music
production activities, perhaps from a course you are doing or
something you are working on in your own time. You could prepare a
brief presentation of your work, which we will ask you questions
on, or you could simply bring something to play or demonstrate to
us, and be prepared to answer questions about your work.
Your ability to communicate confidently and
express the practical, creative and technical processes you
followed in producing the work is what we are looking for in the
interview. There are no theory or practical examinations to
undertake at the interview.
