Take the plunge...
try something new
91% of our graduates (2009)
were in employment or full-time study six months after graduating.
We understand that employers are looking for that little bit extra
when assessing job applications. Therefore we ensure that you have
access to a fantastic range of opportunities to develop your
strengths, learn new skills, gain invaluable work experience and
beef up your CV.
There’s so much more to life
at university than just studying…
Study abroad
Why not spend part of your
degree studying abroad?
Specially designed exchange schemes are available with a number
of prestigious institutions in a variety of European countries. For
EU exchanges you will be eligible for an ERASMUS scholarship of
approximately £240 per month, to supplement your income in covering
the extra expenses of living abroad.
Or, you can spend half a year studying abroad at a college in
North America on most of our degree programmes. In North America we
have negotiated special bed-for-bed schemes, whereby you pay for
accommodation and food on your home campus before leaving and
simply change places. This gives you an opportunity to be fully
involved in the stimulating environment of a typical North American
college campus.
Going on exchange will not add any time onto your degree, for
you simply spend one semester or one year studying your subject in
another country. Your tutors will help you choose modules to ensure
that they fulfil your degree requirements at York St John.
Furthermore, when studying at one of our partner institutions, you
will not have to pay foreign tuition fees.
Exchange opportunities are also available in Australia, Japan
and China.
Studying abroad allows you to:
- Be independent and gain confidence.
- Get a new perspective on your studies.
- Improve your knowledge of another language.
- Experience a new culture.
- Travel and widen your horizons.

“When I started the Student
Ambassador role, I was so nervous because I didn’t know what to
expect. I really like it when we have a group of secondary school
children, because they might just think it’s a day out, but will
really pay attention to what you are saying and it is a very
positive feeling to be passing on my experiences to others.” -
