Your Students' Union

Leight Hankinson, SU President“If you want to really get the most from your years at Uni, get involved with your Union.” - Leigh Hankinson, SU President

Your Higher Education studies will almost certainly be the most
enjoyable and significant years of your life. But studying is only one part of the student experience.

As a York St John University student, you automatically become a member of the Students’ Union. This gives you access to all the services we provide from emotional and academic support, advice and representation through to clubs, societies, volunteering and entertainment. Students' UnionWe believe that University can transform your life and we want to help you do that in whatever way you want.

The Students’ Union is a democratic organisation - students elect other students to run it on their behalf.

Union officers are elected each year to represent your interests at every level within the university and outside in the local and national communities. We represent every aspect of our student body and are continually looking for ways to make things better from removing parking charges on campus for disabled students to improving catering for first year students on campus.

And yes, we do have a bar, albeit a little less dramatic than the one in Hollyoaks. We also have a shop and a café so everything you need is provided on campus in a building where there is always something going on – from film showings to salsa classes, live music to fashion shows, freecycling to yoga.

Try new sports, show off your creative talents, become a campaigner
…  and much more!
