How the University is organised
York St John has the following
organisational structure:
The Vice Chancellor (VC)
The VC of the University is the most
senior position in the institution. The VC heads the Senior
Leadership Team who are responsible for the strategic direction of
the University and all decisions that affect the whole of the
University.
Pro Vice Chancellors (PVC)
PVCs support the VC as part of the
senior leadership team but they also have responsibility for
different areas of the University. At York St John University
we have two PVCs who have responsibility in the areas of: academic,
resources and development. Under these areas you will find
all the parts of the University which are then divided into
Faculties and Support Services.
Academic Faculties
York St John University has four
Academic areas. These are:
• Faculty
of Arts
• Business
School
• Faculty of Education
and Theology
• Faculty of
Health and Life Sciences
Each Faculty is managed by a Dean of
Faculty supported by a Deputy Dean and Faculty Managers. Each
Faculty are responsible for the delivery of modules and programmes
of study. Your academic programme will have a Head of
Programme who is responsible for co-coordinating learning within
the programme and the work of the Academic Tutors.
Support Services
Registry
Registry is the department of the
University that coordinates all student records and information and
also all graduation ceremonies. You will also find the

Facilities
Facilities coordinate and look after
all York St John owned physical spaces and facilities on and off
campus including catering, accommodation (Halls), cleaning,
gardening, maintenance, sports facilities and porters service. For

Finance
York St John Finance Department
coordinates all finances for the University including management
accounts, student tuition and accommodation fee payments. For more

Human Resources
The HR department coordinates all
recruitment and staffing issues within the University working with
Trade Unions to ensure job satisfaction at York St John. HR
also provide a comprehensive range of development opportunities for

Library and IT
The library and IT services looks
after your resource needs for your study by providing materials for
the Fountains Learning Centre and keeping IT systems in working
order and helping you with any problems with the network. For more

Marketing and Admissions
Marketing and Admissions coordinate
all internal and external communications with students, potential
students, staff and the general public. Marketing coordinate
Open Days and visits to school and college fairs. Marketing
also has the alumni and fundraising team who raise funds for the
University and coordinate the University's Alumni Association (old
students) and assist in communications of the Association of the
Colleges of Ripon and York St John.
Student Services
Student services are a collection of
services who work in partnership with the Faculties and other
departments to support students through their academic
learning. Student Services seek to encourage student
development through providing information, advice and guidance to
students on a range of areas. Student Services include:
student advice, career advice and guidance, study development,
disability advice, counselling and wellbeing support. For more

YSJ International
YSJ International is the centre for
all international business and student development. YSJ
International coordinates Study Abroad programmes, international

Learning and
Teaching Development
Learning and Teaching Development
(LTD) is a department that supports university staff in developing
exceptional learning, teaching and assessment at York St John
University. The Technology
Enhanced Learning (TEL) team within LTD provides support to
staff in the use of e-Learning tools including Moodle, Mahara and
Turnitin. LTD coordinates the Student as Researchers Scheme and
supports the Student Researchers network. LTD also organises
“Thinking out Loud”, our annual undergraduate research conference
and “Talking about Teaching”, our annual learning and
