SCUK Safeguarding and Protecting Children
This course is a Minimum Standard for Deployment
(MSD) for many employers and sport governing bodies. This course is
written by Sports Coach UK and delivered by tutors trained by
SCUK.
The safeguarding course aims to raise your awareness of issues
that may arise as a result of working with children and young
people (such as abuse).
By the end of the course students will be able to:
- Provide a positive and enriching sporting experience for
children and young people.
- Recognise signs of child abuse and poor practice and know how
to respond to these.
- Know how to take appropriate action if concerns about child
abuse occur.

SCUK Equity in Coaching
Everyone should be able to access sport regardless
of their age, gender, ability, faith, sexual orientation or race.
This course will show you how you can make this possible. The
course is written by Sports Coach UK and delivered by tutors
trained by SCUK.
By the end of the course students will be able to:
- Identify and deal with any barriers to participation.
- Understand the legalities.
- Develop existing skills and experience in order to make
sessions more accessible.

Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW)
This 1 day course will cover a wide range of
aspects relating to providing first aid as well as equipping
students with practical, possibly lifesaving, skills. Students
will receive an emergency first aid at work (FAW) certificate
to comply with HSE requirements. This is a HSE approved
course.
By the end of the course students will be able to:
- Understand the legal aspects of first aid including reporting
and recording incidents.
- Be aware of the signs and symptoms of a range of illnesses and
injuries.
- Be able to administer first aid for casualties.
This qualification is a valuable addition to your CV and is
valid for three years. A first aid qualification of some
description is usually a Minimum Standard for Deployment (MSD) for
many employers and sports governing bodies.
Basic First Aid
This is a four-hour course with a certificate valid
for three years. It is suitable for anyone working in an
environment that does not require a fully-qualified first aider,
but where there could be any risk of illness or accident.

A first aid qualification, of some description, is usually a
Minimum Standard for Deployment (MSD) for many employers and sports
governing bodies. The course provider, Purple Dog
Training, is registered with Qualsafe Awards as a registered
centre, number 0904080.
Paediatric First Aid
The course is aimed at teachers, parents, nurseries,
primary schools and anyone who comes into contact or works with
infants and children.
Qualification Content
The course teaches vital skills on infant and child
resuscitation which is the most up to date UK Resuscitation
Council’s guidelines. The course also focuses on common first aid
incidents and medical conditions for paediatric emergency care.
The course will also cover:
- Responsibilities and reporting
- Resuscitation
- Shock
- Assessment of the situation
- Minor injuries
- Epilepsy
- Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
- Anaphylaxis
- Wounds and bleeding
Attendees will receive a certificate of
attendance. The course is provided by Nero Training
(accredited by SQA, Ofqual & HSE).
