Our Partners

At York St John University we are
committed to making a difference and that’s why we are actively
involved in helping to develop sport within the community. We have
great links with key national, regional and local sports
organisations.
North Yorkshire
Sport
Working with the county sports partnership has
allowed York St John University to support community sport by
sponsoring the North Yorkshire Youth Games. This enables youths
from across the region to participate in a celebration event and is
the culmination of a competitive sports calendar. The
partnership also enables York St John University students to
register with CoachingNYSport, helping
them gain experience and meet the needs for coaches within the
regional community. To read more about our partnership with
North Yorkshire Sport click here.
Active York
Active York is the local community sports
network. YSJActive are represented on this network by
our Chair of Sport-Related Subjects, Professor Howard Hall, who is
currently the chair of the group.
York Vikings
The partnership with York Vikings has gone
from strength to strength and has enabled the development of a
wheelchair basketball club, a coach education programme involving
students in recognised training and then delivery in the
community. Read more about York Vikings' work with YSJActive
here.
York City
Knights
A recent partnership that aims to enable York
City Knights players to benefit from sports science support, whilst
also enabling students to benefit from a coach education programme
and to volunteer to support their community outreach
programme.
Nestlé UK
YSJActive has been providing innovative and
responsive training to help boost the health and wellbeing of
employees. For more information about our work
with Nestlé click here.
YSJ Inclusive Activity
Club
Linked to our ambition to become a recognised
regional centre for inclusive sports, we have a formal partnership
with YSJIAC, which was originally founded by graduates from York St
John University. This partnership has benefited disabled and
able-bodied athletes from the local and regional community
alongside students who have benefited from training and
volunteering delivering inclusive sport.
