Performance Testing

York St John University’s Sports Science
Team can provide comprehensive advice on a range of areas that will
support the enhancement of fitness and sports performance.
A popular area of support with athletes is the assessment of
endurance fitness, which takes place in our city centre physiology
laboratory. Such a test allows the identification of a range
of performance parameters including; VO2 max, lactate
threshold, exercise economy and maximal power.
A full test will take about one hour and requires the athlete to
work at a range of exercise intensities to maximum. The test
can be undertaken on either a treadmill or a cycle
ergometer.
The tests will allow for identification of current fitness
levels and inform the selection of individualised
training sessions. You will receive a full report within a
week of the test, detailing and explaining all the
data collected and indicating how it can be used to support your
training. Follow-up tests can then be used to measure
improvement and monitor training. To read a case study on
performance testing, click here.
Due to developments in the laboratories, performance
testing has been suspended for the summer. Any existing
bookings will be honoured. Once testing recommences
details will be published here.
YSJActive are also able to offer a range of other tests such as
health checks, please contact us if
you have a test requirement not listed as we may be able to
help.
