External Relations

The External Relations directorate works across York St John University to develop and manage the University’s internal and external communications strategy, conferences and events, alumni, external relations and fundraising.

Communications team

The communications team supports the internal and external communication strategy across the University, handling public affairs and media relations, and crisis communications management. They are responsible for the University’s corporate brand development and positioning, corporate identity and key messages across all channels to increase brand awareness and raise the profile of York St John locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.

Conference and Events team

The conference and events team supports schools and departments across the University to develop a programme of conferences and events. They assist in the delivery of events and conferences at all stages of the process and provide advice and guidance on event suitability. The team also help staff in developing partnership events and can provide additional assistance with specialist events. They assist in the delivery of city-wide partnership events and activities and are also the main point of contact for all external organisations wishing to use York St John University as a venue for conference and events.

External Relations and Fundraising team

The External Relations and Fundraising team supports the schools and directorates across the University to develop fundraising ideas and identify new opportunities for stakeholder relations activity. They maintain and develop relationships with key partners and networks across the city and region to raise awareness and to promote specific activities at the University.

Alumni team

The alumni team build and maintain meaningful relationships with former students of York St John, with a view to encouraging them to start to give back to the University, either by offering their time or expertise, or through financial giving. The alumni engagement programme includes regular communications across a range of digital platforms, an annual events programme including reunions and opportunities for social and professional networking, as well as providing a variety of attractive membership benefits and services.
