The aim of this interactive event is to introduce new academic staff to the York St John University approaches to teaching, learning, assessment and research. It will also provide opportunities to meet and network with a range of staff from across the University.
Curriculum enhancement grants are to support pedagogic innovation, and evaluation of learning, teaching and assessment practices at York St John University. Further information about submitting a proposal can be found on the curriculum projects page.
The CPD framework can assist staff to gain a qualification to teach and for experienced staff to provide opportunities to evidence and gain sector wide recognition of their leadership in learning, teaching and assessment.
RIPPLE is a network of professionals interested in research as a form of critical engagement with our practice, including its subject-content, pedagogical and policy dimensions. The established monthly Breakfast cafes include action-oriented approaches but is not limited to them. PubMethods is an opportunity to meet monthly to discuss approaches to researching professional practice.

Talking about Teaching is our annual event that gives staff an opportunity to engage in conversations about learning, teaching and assessment. The event will create interactive opportunities for sharing practice and networking, helping you to discover what is going on across the institution and to pick up new ideas. The theme of this year’s event is York St John University Graduate Attributes.

Our fifth annual Writing Retreat was held on in July 2015 facilitated by Victoria Carpenter at Otley Chevin Country Park. This two day session gave staff the space and time away from work to concentrate on their academic writing. We will be facilitating more writing retreats in 2015-16.
Bespoke Staff Development Workshops
The Academic Development Directorate helps programmes, subjects or faculties who have specific academic development needs. This may include addressing specific team needs, eg in relation to developing assessment and feedback processes, providing support to develop e-Marking, running curriculum review days for revalidation or facilitating dialogue days for staff and students.
