About Fellowship of the HEA

If you're looking for information about how to become a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA), you're in the right place.

The York St John University Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Framework brings together all our academic staff development into a single scheme that is mapped to the various descriptors (D) of the sector recognised UK Professional Standards Framework

What this means for you is that we can assess staff in-house and award recognition to those who meet the professional standards at each of these descriptor levels. Furthermore unlike a direct application to the HEA, it will cost you nothing.

  Demonstrates commitment to teaching, learning and the student experience, through engagement in a practical process that encourages research, reflection and development;   Fellowship is increasingly sought by employers across the education sector as a condition of appointment and promotion;
  For individuals, to identify their expertise with the entitlement to use post-nominal letters (AFHEA, FHEA, SFHEA, PFHEA);   Provides institutional assurance to prospective students regarding the value we place on teaching quality throughout our institution.
