Entry to some programmes of study at York St John University requires applicants to meet non-academic conditions. Where such conditions are routine, they are specified in course literature and are part of the standard entry requirements. Two of these conditions are the completion of a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) Enhanced Disclosure application and the completion of a Medical Health Questionnaire.
These checks are undertaken to ensure that applicants are able to go out on placements and work with children and/or vulnerable adults in a variety of settings. Also, for those who are applying for programmes where they will graduate with academic awards which confer the right to apply for professional qualifications and/or registration with a professional body, that they are fit to teach or practice.
