Starting a business
We offer two schemes to help you start your own business. Our Grad2Director and Grad2Freelancer schemes help you transform your idea into a flourishing business opportunity.
The Grad2Director programme has been developed in partnership between York St John University, and Dr John Park, an international expert in product and service innovation.
John brings nearly 30 years of experience developing new products and services in two of the world’s largest corporations, Procter & Gamble and PepsiCo International. He has also run university wide business start-up programmes at the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen and the EU Funded Enterprising Worcestershire Summer Startup Bootcamps at the University of Worcester.
Grad2Freelancer is a simplified version of the highly successful Grad2Director programme.
To access the programmes all you have to do is register. Once registered, you will be emailed an invite to join the York St John University cohort and you will have access to over 150 video podcasts and programme materials that will help you develop innovative ideas for new products and services.
Workshops and support clinics
In addition to the online course, participants will have the opportunity to work with John in person to develop their business ideas and to transform them into a viable start up opportunities.
If you have a great business idea that you can prove you can turn into a viable business, there are cash awards available for the best business ideas, as well as incorporation costs fully funded by the University for up to 15 companies.
York St John University will help you establish your own private limited company. Beyond that, we have a firm commitment to helping you with critical early stage support in the first six months of the business. To qualify for this you simply need to work through the online programme and attend the workshops.
