2nd Year Computer Science, West-Midlands
Moving from college to University was quite a smooth transition and I think it was due to the course sizes. There aren’t hundreds of people in the classes, both at college and at YSJ, which makes it quite nice to be able throw yourself into University life here.
I always knew that I wanted to do computer science ever since I was a kid. I loved computers, technology and everything like that, so I ended up doing computer science at college and I knew the next logical step for me was to study it at University.
Here at YSJ it just seems to feel like a great environment where you get to not only know your lecturers but actually work with them as well. I was pretty much sold at that point.
When I attended an open day, I was in a talk by one of my lecturers and there’s one thing I was told that still sticks with me now; ‘You could be teaching in other much bigger institutions with classes of 300 people and something could happen to a student, but you might not even know them, and what an isolating thing to feel.’ Here at YSJ it just seems to feel like a great environment where you get to not only know your lecturers but actually work with them as well. I was pretty much sold at that point.
