The City of York Council's annual Civic Event for Holocaust Memorial Day is embracing the national theme, 'Stand together'. Genocidal regimes throughout history have deliberately fractured societies by marginalising certain groups. 2020 marks the 75th anniversary of the end of the Holocaust. Now more than ever, we need to stand together with others in our communities in order to stop division and the spread of hatred in our society. This event commemorates the victims of Nazism along with other genocides including those in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.
This evening event is hosted by the Lord Mayor and Civic Party, with speakers, readings, information and screening of the 2020 community project film.
