About the Film
The documentary Embrace tells the story of Taryn Brumfitt’s journey from body loather to body lover - an Australian wife and mother who embarks on an international crusade to change the way we think and feel about our bodies.
This powerful documentary uncovers why poor body image has become a global epidemic and what women everywhere can do to have a brighter future.
The UK has one of the lowest levels of body confidence in the world where nine out of 10 British teenage girls are unhappy with their bodies and one third of males would sacrifice a year of their life to achieve the ideal body.
1,000s of women and men around the world have been inspired by the documentary and here in York, we want to continue the conversation to help everyone build their own confidence and begin to understand the power of body positivity.
The film is rated as a 12A and lasts for around 90 mins.
There will be Q & A session after the screening with a Body Image Movement Ambassador and Confidence Coach.

About the organiser
Hi, I'm Jules Wyman, and in brief, I am a volunteer at KYRA, an ex-student at York St John University and a confidence coach based here in the City of York.
I have faced body issues for a great deal of my life and have spent a number of years now free from them :-) It's a much freer way of living. I first watched the documentary a year ago and have been involved in a variety of ways since to help women have a healthily, happier relationship with their bodies.
This year I am challenging myself and my body to trek across the lava fields in Iceland to raise the much-needed funds for KYRA and sharing this movie with you is one of the ways I am raising this money. Thank you for your support and I look forward to meeting you on 21st March.
