Choosing a nominee

Honorary degrees are awarded to people who have made a major contribution and earned national and international distinction in their field. This can be in professional activities, the advancement of learning, the arts or public affairs. Nominees often have a connection with York St John University or the local area although this is not required.

If you would like to make a nomination please keep in mind in the university's Equality, Diversity and Human Rights policy. We would like our honorary awards to reflect the diversity of the wider community.

Nominations will be considered and approved by the Committee on Honorary Degrees and Fellowships. All nominations will be treated confidentially. The Committee will contact individual nominees as necessary.

To read our policies and procedures for the appointment of honorary titles visit our Regulations page.
