Mental Health Practitioner

I work as one of the Mental Health Practitioners in the Wellbeing team here at York St John, having worked here since 2017. In previous roles, I worked as a community mental health nurse for over 25 years in York. Like all of my colleagues, I see personal wellbeing as key to achieving the most out of your time as a student and life in general.

Sam Baker

Sam Baker

Counsellor

I’m a BACP-accredited Counsellor with over 16 years’ experience, including several years’ experience within the Wellbeing team at York St John University. My goal is to help individuals with the emotional and/or mental health challenges they may face during their time at university.

Steve Jones

Mental Health Practitioner

I have worked in NHS mental health services for 13 years before joining York St John in 2019, having previously studied occupational therapy here as a student. As an Occupational Therapist, I believe having a good work-life balance is important for us all, especially at times of stress which we can all experience during our lives.

Our wellbeing practitioners work closely with our welfare advisers. Together our wellbeing and welfare practitioners make up the University’s multidisciplinary Wellbeing team.
