Course Content

If you work in health, social care or education this CPD course is for you, whichever field you work in, you will have professional contact with veterans and their families.

Managing family members of service personnel who are transitioning into civilian life or living with a family member who is in a military service can be complex and time consuming. This course will give you the skills and knowledge to support veterans and their families, by providing the knowledge to enable a more informed approach.

What will I learn?

  • Look at particular transitional challenges that impact upon veterans and their families
  • Appreciate the impact of transition upon dependant family members
  • Gain information about external agencies and the support that is available
  • Become more ‘Veteran Friendly’

Who should attend?

This course is designed for staff who work in education, GPs, Practice Nurses, Social Workers, physiotherapists, school nurses and Nurses. If you work with people you will meet children and families of veterans and military personnel. This course should appeal to all Health and Social Care providers, in the current climate of tendering and budget cuts, Health and Social Care providers will need to equip their staff with knowledge and competence of how to manage and refer patients/clients into services while enabling the staff member to feel empowered to do so with confidence.

Course Leader Biography:

Inspire-Ignite is an organisation that supports and encourages transition to enable staff to progress and learn. Both Sue and Hannah have extensive knowledge of working within the NHS and Education. Sue is a Registered Specialist Mental Health Nurse BSc (Hons) RMN, Dip­NLP & Psychotherapy. Hannah is a registered Social Worker and has a Masters Degree in Management and Leadership in Health and Social Care. Sue has 12 years’ experience as a TA within the armed forces. Both are dedicated and motivated to ensure the workforce who work with people are equipped with current and evidenced best practice to enhance their knowledge and skills in their everyday work.
