Katie Simpson

Katie is Director of Partnership Development for Bright Bid. Bright Bid helps social value organisations to grow by providing research support and coordination, bid writing services and bespoke courses and training.

For several years Katie worked in Higher Education, as Head of Partnership Development and Lecturer in Children, Young People and Education at York St John University. Before this she worked in Adult Education with refugees and marginalised groups and managed multi-agency teams in Local Authorities.

Katie has worked on a number of successful research projects related to the children’s workforce, across the voluntary and private sector. Katie’s research interests include widening participation and Foster Carers. During her time at York St John she developed and led the first University accredited course for Foster Carers.

Katie is working in partnership with the International Centre for Community Music to coordinate a collaborative research project with SoundLINCS, York St John University and Lincolnshire Council investigating the impact of Community Music training on the Looked After Children’s workforce in Lincolnshire.

Katie has a Masters in Educational Improvement, Development and Change and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
