J.F. Oberlin University
J.F. Oberlin University is a private university founded in 1946.
It is located in Machida in Tokyo, and is comprised of 6 colleges and has over 9,000 students, many of them from overseas.
Machida is located in the western area of Tokyo, and has a population of over 420,000. Central Tokyo is 30 kilometres away, taking less than 90 minutes by train.

Choosing your modules
You need to gain the following credits from your modules:
- 12 to 16 Japanese credits per semester
- 24 to 32 Japanese credits per year.

The academic calendar is split into 2 semesters:
- Semester 1: September to February
- Semester 2: April to August.

Costs and visas
Insurance and additional costs
You are required to enrol in the Japanese National Insurance System, which costs approximately ¥1000 a month.
Please make sure you have an up to date passport that expires no earlier than 6 months after you intend to return.
You will be provided with guidance and documentation from the partner university but it will be your responsibility to obtain the correct visa.
