Anna Waistnage

Lecturer in Criminology - Sociology Course Lead

I have been teaching in higher education for over 8 years and have worked at a number of institutions in the North of England. I gained my BA Hons in Psychology with Criminology  and my Masters in Criminology from the University of Hull.

Teaching

I am currently a lecturer and the Sociology Course Lead at YSJ.

I currently specialise my teaching in the area criminal justice and the criminal justice systems in operation in the UK. I specifically teach on the following modules.

- Introduction to the Criminal Justice System
- Issues in Criminal Justice
- Prisons and Penology
- Working in the Social sciences

Research

I am currently conducting an ethnographic study of a Northern Industrial town and the consequences of industrial loss on class relations. My areas of research interest include but are not limited to

- Hate crime
- Prejudice
- Race and ethnicity
- Social Justice
