Staff Profile

Professor Christopher Bailey

Business School Visiting Professor

I am an experienced academic manager having worked for four decades in the vibrant UK art college, polytechnic and 1992 university sector. I have consistently forged winning partnerships with creative organisations that have benefited local economies, students and staff. Over the same period I have held numerous Trustee and Company Directorships in creative enterprises and Arts Council regularly funded organisations.

I am well acquainted with cultural policy frameworks having held many voluntary positions in the regional arts structure including a period as Chair of West Midlands Arts. I have conducted research and consultancy in culture led regeneration and skills development for Carlow County Council, Ireland, the government of Cyprus, the South African Department of Arts Culture Science and Technology, Johannesburg Development Agency, Newcastle and Gateshead Councils, the UK museums body Re:source, and the Dartington Hall Trust.

I hold a professorial title, have founded research centres in cultural policy and image data use and management, and have published well-regarded work in the areas of cultural policy, image data, and cultural and design history. I have national quality management experience obtained through the QAA subject review process and act as reviewer for Hong Kong Research Council grant applications and for submissions to a number of journals.
