I joined York St John as an Academic Associate and a PhD Candidate in September 2022 after completing a MSc in Psychology at Leeds Beckett University.

I originally trained as a primary teacher and went on to study international perspectives on learning and teaching, and classroom focused development for a postgraduate certificate in Education at Bishop Grosseteste University.

Alongside my teaching career and classroom practice, I have maintained academic interest in different aspects of children's psychology and behaviour.

Teaching

I teach on the following Psychology BSc modules:

  • Biological Bases of Behaviour
  • Exploring Social Psychology
  • Advanced Topics in Brain and Behaviour
  • Survey Research Methods and Statistics

Research

Currently, my research is around autistic adolescents, loneliness and connection. The main aim of this project is to understand how this population describes loneliness and connection and ultimately to find out how feeling ‘not lonely’ is translated in real life for these individuals.

I am interested in qualitative and creative methods of research that allow insights into personal narratives and the protagonist’s point of view.
