Quality and Standards Committee (QSC)
Within the powers delegated by Academic Board, the Quality and Standards Committee is responsible for the quality of programmes and standard of awards for all provision.
Research Degrees Sub Committee (RDSC)
Within the powers delegated by University of Leeds and the QSC, the Research Degrees Sub Committee is responsible for the oversight of research degree provision. RDSC also delegates decisions on admissions, suspensions, extensions, changes of supervisors and delays in transfer assessments to a sub group of the committee. A School Research Lead can submit one of the above matters to the sub group for consideration by providing the necessary forms to RDSC’s Committee Secretary. Decisions made by the sub group are communicated back to RDSC at the next meeting and, where appropriate, to Leeds Postgraduate Research and Operations (PGRO).
Research Degrees Examination Panel (RDEP)
Within the powers delegated by Academic Board, the Research Degrees Examination Panel is responsible for the implementation of University policy and procedures for the examination of research degree candidates. RDEP is also responsible for the consideration of requests for suspensions or extensions which occur whilst a student is within the examination process.
The Research Committee is responsible for advising on research policy for the monitoring and support of research activity at the University. For more information on the Committee contact the Executive Officer.
Cross-School Research Ethics Committees (CSRECs)
The three Cross-School Research Ethics Committees are responsible for considering for approval, all research undertaken by academic staff and research students that might reasonably be considered to raise ethical questions.
