Dr Chris Boyes

I am a senior Lecturer here at York St John University. I teach and supervise research at undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD levels. I have PhD sole supervisor status with the University of Leeds and senior supervisor status with York St John University.

I am involved in university quality assurance processes such as validation of new degrees.

I have held External Examiner appointments at the University of East Anglia and Oxford Brookes University (School of Health and Social Care: MSc/PG Dip/PG Cert. Rehabilitation). I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

I teach Evidence Based Practice and Research Methods at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and I am Module Leader for core modules on the MSc Professional Health and Social Care Programmes: Evaluating Evidence and Effecting Change, Research Methods, Research Paper.


I have PhD sole supervisor status with the University of Leeds and senior supervisor status with York St John University, having successfully co-supervised a PhD in The Measurement of Balance for People who have Multiple Sclerosis and a PhD in Priorities and Barriers to Research in Health Librarianship.

My own research interests relate to Continuing Professional Development for Allied Health Professionals, activity and engagement in care homes, health coaching and veterans.

I currently co-supervise a PhD on the impact of working with eating disordered clients on the counsellor's embodied subjectivity.
