The Oxford Handbook of Mary
The Oxford Handbook of Mary is due to be published in 2019. Dr Chris Maunder, of York St John University, is the general editor responsible for co-ordinating the team of contributors. These constitute 40 scholars working in various sub-disciplines of Marian Studies from a range of universities and colleges in countries which include Australia, Belgium, Canada, Finland, France, Greece, Israel, Mexico, Netherlands, Switzerland, Taiwan, the U.K., and the U.S.A. Alongside contemporary social science and religious studies scholarship, the work will also include academic perspectives on Mary from representatives of the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Churches, while one chapter will explore Mary in Islam. Chris Maunder will write the Introduction and the opening chapter on Mary in the New Testament.
The project is funded through the home universities supporting the work of the contributors within their normal workload.
