The School of Languages and Linguistics offers a very broad range of courses. These include undergraduate degrees in English Language and Linguistics (Single Honours or Joint with Education Studies, Literature, Languages and Creative Writing), Linguistics and TESOL, Languages (including French, German, Spanish, Japanese and British Sign Language), TESOL and Modern Foreign Languages.
Our taught postgraduate degrees include Master’s programmes in Applied Linguistics (specialising in either TESOL or Translation), Clinical Linguistics, Japanese Language Teaching, and Language and Linguistics. We supervise research degrees at postgraduate level and offer a Professional Doctorate in Applied Linguistics (DAppLing).
The International Programmes section of our School runs an International Foundation Programme, Pre-sessional courses, General English courses and a variety of English language teacher training/development courses, including the Cambridge ESOL Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA).
