The School of Psychological and Social Sciences is home to a thriving and rapidly-expanding research culture.
Research in the School is organised around the core disciplinary areas of psychology, social sciences and counselling, and is supported by state-of-the-art laboratory facilities featuring equipment such as eye-tracking and virtual reality equipment, as well as interview rooms with multi-angle video recording. The School also houses the Counselling and Mental Health Research Clinic, which provides a focal point for clinical research in counselling.
We have undertaken research in collaboration with a range of external partners, including City of York Council, North Yorkshire Police and the NHS, as well as a number of charitable organisations concerned with domestic violence.
School Staff provide postgraduate research supervision across a range of areas, including cognitive, developmental and social psychology, as well as counselling and psychotherapy. View our Research Degrees webpages for more information.
