Kathryn Dutton

I am an experienced academic, with more than 18 years' experience in legal education and research. Prior to joining York St John University, I was Head of Law School at the University of Bradford and Deputy Head of Law at the University of Chester. In addition to these posts, I have had an extensive career that has included teaching and research posts at the Universities of Edinburgh, Coventry and Glasgow as well as roles in local government.

I am currently responsible for the design and development of the LLB programme. Subjects I have taught in the past, at undergraduate and postgraduate level, include:

Research

My research interests lie in the fields of criminal law, criminal justice and legal pedagogy. My current projects relate to work I have undertaken with the African Prisons Project, Law Clinic development and management in legal practice. I am an experienced PhD supervisor happy to consider proposals in the broad area of criminal law and justice.
