Information for RKC Students Attending the York Residency

If you are an RKC student who will be attending the Residency in York please read the information below.

First Day Essentials

To meet Visa compliance we ask that when you arrive on the first day you must bring in your passport so that this can be scanned onto our systems.

You do not need to print out any materials in advance and bring these with you - you will be provided with everything you need while you are here.

Student ID Cards

We will contact you before the Residency if we do not hold a picture of you on file. A colour picture will be needed so that we can create your ID Card.

Your photo must be:

  • A recent colour photo
  • Be of you alone (no other people or pets)
  • Be taken against a pale background
  • Show you facing forwards with your head and shoulders in the photograph
  • Show your full face
  • Show your eyes clearly and avoid glare on glasses if you wear them (do not wear sunglasses in the picture)
  • Be in jpeg format (filename ending .jpg)
  • Be at least 300 pixels by 300 pixels in size

You will receive your Student ID Card on the first day of the Residency.

IT Account

Before you arrive please test your York St John University IT account is working and that you remember your password.

This is separate to your RKC Online Campus account.

You can test your account by using your York St John login and password to log in to Moodle.

Please confirm to us as soon as possible before arrival that your account is working and you have your password. We cannot add you to the course page until you have logged in to Moodle for the first time.

If you cannot remember your login details and/or password please email us at and ask for this to be reset.

WiFi and Devices

Please see the page for YSJ WiFi (eduroam) which will explain how to connect your devices to the WiFi on campus.

In the UK we use 3 pronged plugs, so you may need to bring a travel adapter with you so that you can charge laptops etc. if the plugs in your country are different.

Travel and arrival at YSJ

For advice on travelling to York St John University please see our Connect page.

When asking for directions, or if you get a taxi, please make sure you ask for “York St John University” as there are 2 universities in York.

Signage will be posted on the day to direct you to the room. If you need any help or advice on arrival please ask at Holgate Reception. Staff will be available to help you on the first day, and during the rest of your week here you can find the York Business School Partnerships Office in the De Grey building, room DG/002.

Useful Forms

During your visit we will take a group photo that will be sent to you and may be used on our web pages. You will be asked to complete a consent form if you are happy for us to do this.
