Why enrolment is important

It is extremely important that you enrol as soon as possible and preferably before you arrive at York St John University. Limited facilities for enrolment will be available on campus if you cannot access a computer or internet connection at home or locally. A delay in enrolling may result in your being unable to access University facilities and your first student loan payment (if applicable) being delayed.

If you have any queries about enrolment and what you must do, please contact Registry staff immediately Student Systems and Records for advice.

Your Responsibilities

When you enrol as a student at York St John University you become entitled to use the facilities and services that the University provides. You also agree to abide by the University's rules and regulations. You must agree to these or you cannot formally enrol with us. Please note specifically the Student Charter, which sets out our mutual obligations and expectations.

It is also important that you enrol with the Medical Centre as soon as possible within your free time during Welcome Week.

Purposes of Enrolment

The purposes of enrolment are:

  • To confirm student registration and attendance in order to discharge the University's obligations to report accurately to HEFCE, TTA, Student Finance England, Student Loan Company and professional bodies;
  • To permit students to verify information about themselves and thereby comply with the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998;
  • To gather data not supplied by UCAS and required by the HESES and HESA returns and by internal customers (for example Faculties and the Finance Office).
