Students

Staying connected

York St John University Students’ Union is developing a Welcome Programme at the beginning of term.

We will work closely with SU presidents and student reps to do everything we can to make it easy for students to socialise. For now, small scale meet-ups and online gatherings will remain a big part this.

We are working with the Students’ Union to make sure that social life on and around campus is as enjoyable and fulfilling as it possibly can be. As in any other year, we will encourage students to join clubs and societies, take part in organised sport, meet with like-minded people, become volunteers, and campaign for worthwhile causes. We are anticipating that competitive sport will take place from January 2021, and until then, we are planning a social programme for sport.

Food, drink and retail outlets are now opening around our campuses as businesses reopen safely for residents and visitors. In York, a city-wide Let’s be York campaign is encouraging everyone to be safe, welcoming and considerate as lockdown measures are eased.

Current students can stay connected through our virtual community and students starting in September can get to know each other by joining our Fresher’s page on Facebook.
