Induction

Before you arrive

Complete these steps to enrol on your York St John University course

There are a few things you can do before you arrive to make your transition to York St John University as smooth as possible. Use this page to guide you through the process.

Step 1 - Receive your Enrolment email

Before you can do anything you need to receive your enrolment email from our Registry team. This email will contain your Student ID number and enrolment key.

Enrolment emails are sent to students once they have met all of the conditions their offer was dependent on. If you are unsure what conditions you need to meet, you can contact our Admissions Team at admissions@yorksj.ac.uk

Step 2 - Create your IT account

You will need your enrolment key and a digital photograph. The photograph is for your Student ID card and should:

  • be in a similar style to a passport photograph
  • be a recent colour photograph
  • be of you alone (no other people or pets)
  • be taken against a pale background
  • show you facing forwards with your head and shoulders filling 80% of the frame
  • show your full face
  • show your eyes clearly
  • be in jpeg format
  • be at least 300px x 300px in size

Step 3 - Enrol online

As part of this process you will be asked to confirm your personal details and provide information about how you will be funding your course.

You will need to finish the enrolment process in person after you have arrived on campus.

Step 4 - Prepare for your course

If you have any pre-arrival work to complete you will receive an email with further details.

Doing some reading for your courses before you arrive is a great way to make your first few weeks easier. It can help you get excited about your new course and give you an introduction into what you will be learning.

All courses publish reading lists. We recommend looking at these as a guide. You do not need to buy all the texts. The library stocks all recommended reading and you may be eligible for an Aspire Card which you can use to pay for course items.
