Postgraduate study is for everyone, whether you are looking to discover more about a subject area you are passionate about, or you want to progress further in your career with a new qualification.
At York St John University we provide a supportive, personalised environment so that you can challenge yourself and realise your potential. With a range of qualifications and flexible learning options available, you can find your perfect fit.
If you are a current York St John student or graduate, you could also be eligible for a scholarship. Find out more about returning to postgraduate study for current students and alumni.
It all starts with finding your course. From there, you can apply to us directly online. Once we have reviewed your application, you will be offered either an interview or a decision, depending on your course.
Then, it is over to you to accept your place. We may need you to meet some other conditions, such as a DBS and health check, but we will let you know if this is the case. Your place will then be confirmed, after which we will email you details on how to complete your enrolment.

Clare Fine Art MFA
York St John University helped me in many ways, not only did I garner valuable knowledge, but I also built a professional portfolio which I took to job interviews and soon after was asked to become an artist in residence for a creative design company. I now teach at York College and work as a co-curator of Kunsthuis Gallery in Crayke, showcasing artists from all over.
Matt Applied Theatre MA
The diversity that was in the course allowed me to learn and develop in a number of different areas, but then being given the support and autonomy to explore and specialise in the areas I wanted. Perhaps steered by the small campus and the community based values, I was able to flourish as an individual and make work I am still proud of.
George MA International History
The MA International History course taught me how to research independently and to a higher academic standard than I was able to beforehand. The array of topics we covered meant that the course offered a taste of different periods of modern international history, at the same time as giving me the freedom to focus on my area of interest for the dissertation. I am now a PhD Student at York St John University, still working toward the goal of becoming a lecturer in the future.
