Doctor of philosophy (PhD)

Delivered at our York campus or online. New students can start on the 1 October or the 1 February each year.

Conduct research into a topic of your choosing and produce a thesis of up to 100,000 words. You will be supported by an academic supervisor and through research skills workshops.

Minimum entry requirements

A 2:1 undergraduate degree or a master's level qualification.

Practice-led Doctor of philosophy (PhD)

Delivered at our York campus or online. New students can start on the 1 October or the 1 February each year.

Combine an indepth research project with your creative practice. This PhD results in written thesis and a practical piece. You will be supported by an academic supervisor and through research skills workshops.

This course is only available within the School of the Arts and the School of Humanities.

Master's by research (MA or MSc)

Complete self-directed research into a topic of your choosing to produce a 30,000 word thesis. You will be supported by a supervisory team and through research skills workshops.
