Everyone uses language, but not everyone knows about language. Join our community of passionate linguists and we can help you understand how language shapes the world.
English Language and Linguistics: an overview
Our courses give you the opportunity to work with our local community, making a difference in other peoples lives and enriching your studies.
We will help you understand language, how it is used and the effects it has. If you have a passion for teaching we can give you the tools you need to teach English to speakers of other languages. We can teach you to communicate in British Sign Language and give you a deep understanding of Deaf culture and experience. Whatever your passion, we can help you reach your goals and realise your potential.
Our lecturers are engaged in world leading research. They will share their expertise with you and offer support as you design and conduct your own research. By the end of your degree, you will be telling us things about language and linguistics that we did not already know.
