Frequently Asked Questions

How do I use the app on my phone?

Once you have installed and opened the York St John VR Campus Tour app, click Tap to Start. You will be given two options to view the tour:

  • View experience in VR on Cardboard: the most immersive way to experience our tour. This will display two windows on your phone screen, to be used in your Google Cardboard headset.
  • View experience on tablet or phone: displays the tour as a full screen video on your phone - use this without a Google Cardboard headset.

Select your preferred option and you will be taken to the first video of the tour.

Navigate the tour by turning and tilting your head to explore the 360° view. Hover the small green cursor in the centre of your screen over a button to select it.

Select the Activate Map icon to show the map of locations you can visit. Close the map using the X button on the top right, or select a new location to visit. Don't miss out on our city centre locations and the chance to fly over campus by drone!

How do I use the web version?

View the web version of our 360° tour on your laptop or desktop computer.

When you open the link, you should see a York St John University loading screen followed by the first 360° video of the tour.

Click and drag your cursor around the screen to explore the 360° view, or use the arrow controls in the bottom right corner of your screen.

Open and close the map using the button in the bottom right corner of your screen. To move to other locations on the tour, click on one of the map's green location icons. Make sure you visit the city centre locations and our flyover of campus by drone!

How does my headset work?

If you have received a Google Cardboard headset from us through the post, you can use this to view our 360° tour in Virtual Reality for the most immersive experience.

Assemble your headset following the instructions on the headset box.
