Becky graduated from York St John University in 2012 with a BA (Hons) degree in Sport, Society and Development. She has a certificate in GP Exercise Referral, Certificate in Personal Training, L2 certificate in Fitness Instructing, Certificate in Adapting Exercise for Adolescents, Certificate in coaching netball, British Weight Lifting qualification and a number of other sport specific coaching and industry awards.
One of Becky’s passions is Dementia and Physical Activity. She has experience of delivering exercise to a range of people between the ages of 4 and 80 including those who have physical disabilities and mental health issues both America and the UK.
Becky enjoys CrossFit, playing netball, travelling and spending time with family.
Sarah’s main role within YSJActive is to organise coaching and exercise industry courses. Sarah graduated from York St John University in 2006 with a BA (Hons) degree in Counselling Studies and holds an MSc in Public Health - Health Promotion, a Postgraduate Certificate in Integrated Practice in Childhood and Youth.
Sarah also has a wide range of qualifications including Level 2 certificates in Fitness Instructing (Gym), Circuit Instructing, Instructing Kettlebells, Adapting Fitness Instruction for Adolescents, and Level 3 certificates in Nutrition for Physical Activity, Programming and Supervising Exercise with Disabled Clients and Designing Exercise Programmes for Pre and Post Natal Clients. Sarah is also a Tutor/Assessor/IV on exercise industry courses.
Martin has diverse mix of responsibilities, which includes lecturing and developing inclusive sport
Recently, Martin has taught on a Research, Practice and Citizenship Module for level one School of Sport Students. This has allowed Martin to draw upon his 20+ years’ experience of working with people with mental health issues and challenge the social injustices surrounding their right to participate in sport and exercise.
Martin is responsible for coordinating and developing inclusive sport. This include Exercise after Stroke, YSJ Multi-Sports and various mental health initiatives.
Martin holds a M.Sc. Sport and Exercise Psychology, and is hoping to start a PhD next year.
Lucie graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2014 with a BSc (Hons) in Sport, Physical Activity and Coaching Science. Along with her degree Lucie has qualifications in Level 2 Fitness Instructing, Level 2 Swimming Teacher, L1 Gymnastics Coaching, L1 Handball Coaching and Certificate in Adapting Exercise for Adolescents. During her time at YSJActive, she has also completed a Level 3 GP Exercise Referral. She would like to further herself in Sports Development along with achieving more vocational certificates.
Lucie's interests include going to watch a variety of sporting events, shopping and travelling to new places.
Lucy is a qualified Sports Therapist having graduated from York St John University with a BSC in Sports Science and Injury Management and an MSc in Sports Therapy from Leeds Beckett making her a member of the society of sports therapy (SOST). Whilst at University Lucy gained a Level 3 in Sports Massage and a Level 5 Advanced Diploma in Sports Therapy. Lucy also has Level 1 Medical Acupunture and Intermediate First Aid for Sports (IFAS).
Lucy has experience working with the Regional Talent Club, youth female football team and Tadcaster Albion FC.
Lucy's passion for football extends to her spare time as she plays for York City Ladies FC as well as enjoying walking her dogs.
Sam has graduated from Leeds Trinity University in 2019 with a BA (Hons) in Secondary Physical Education and Sports Coaching. She also has certificates in Fitness Instructing and Indoor Group Cycling.
Sam’s interests are in public health and wellbeing and hopes to develop this with qualifications and experience.
In her spare time Sam also enjoys walking her dog and when she can volunteering abroad.
Jon graduated from Leeds Beckett University in 2014 with a BSc (Hons) degree in Sport and Exercise Science. He also has Certificates in Personal Training, L2 Gym Instructing, L1 CrossFit Trainer and L2 RFU Rugby Coaching.
Jon has a passion for public health and would like to develop this passion by achieving more vocational qualifications.
In his spare time, Jon enjoys playing rugby, CrossFit and days out with his family.
