Postgraduate

Duration: 2 years full time

Start date: September 2024

Entry requirements:

  • A first or 2:1 honours degree, preferably in a relatable subject, such as Linguistics, Psychology, Education, Sociology, or Biomedical Science
  • Experience of undergraduate level research skills, included an extended project or dissertation.
  • Evidence of insight into the Speech and Language Therapy profession, ideally from recent work or shadowing experience.
  • You will need to pass a satisfactory medical and DBS check.

On this pre-registration course you will:

  • Take the first step on your career as a speech and language therapist, promoting and maintaining the health and well-being of individuals with speech, language, communication and/or eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties. As a qualified speech and language therapist you will be able to provide assessment, treatment, support and care for children and adults. Our course will be approved by the Health Care Professionals Council (HCPC) and accredited by the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists. This means that when you graduate you will be eligible to apply for HCPC registration to practice as a Speech and Language Therapist in the UK.
  • Develop your practice within a person-centred approach, using your specialist skills to provide life-transforming treatment, care and tailored support for individuals and their carers from diverse backgrounds. You will be well prepared to work across a range of settings, and treat people across their lifespan. Through service user involvement and learning alongside other healthcare students, you will learn to take a collaborative and compassionate approach to the people you work with.
  • Learn in our state of the art, industry standard facilities, on a course which emphasises practical learning. The course is underpinned by a strong theoretical and research-led approach, and features both university-based and practice-based modules to enable you to become a reflexive evidence-based practitioner, who is able to meet the needs of a developing profession in an evolving health and social care environment.

On this course you will:
  • Take the first step on your career in Midwifery, promoting and maintaining the health of pregnant individuals. As a qualified midwife you will provide care and support throughout pregnancy, helping to ensure a healthy outcome for both mother and baby. Our course is to be validated by the Nursing and Midwifery Council*. This means that when you graduate you can apply for registration to practice as a Midwife.
  • Develop your practice within a woman-centred approach, empowering women to actively participate in decisions about their health and birthing process. You'll consider wider emotional, social, spiritual and cultural factors, going beyond the physical aspects of pregnancy and childbirth, in order to provide highly skilled holistic care. Through service user involvement and learning alongside other healthcare students, we encourage you to take a collaborative approach to patient care.
  • Study in our state of the art, industry standard facilities, on a course which emphasises practical learning. You'll enhance your employability through training that combines knowledge, skills and evidence with practical simulations and clinical placements.

On this course you will:
  • Prepare for a career playing a crucial role in diagnosing and treating various medical conditions, using ever-evolving imaging technologies such as x ray, ultrasound, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Our course is accredited by the Society of Radiography and validated by the Health and Care Professions Council*. This means that when you graduate you can apply for registration to practice as a Diagnostic Radiographer.
  • Study in our state-of-the-art, industry standard facilities, where you'll observe and practise diagnostic procedures. You'll engage in a wide range of learning opportunities designed to combine science and technology with patient care, to enhance your employability in a contemporary health and social care environment.
  • Gain vital skills on a course with a strong practical focus. We incorporate evidence-based learning alongside practical simulations, along with a variety of diverse placements. The course includes service user involvement and learning alongside other healthcare students, to foster a team-oriented approach to patient care.
